I see so many who use a free-market capitalism argument both for and against anti-trust enforcement: that monopolies cannot exist in a true free market economy which requires deregulation, or that the break-up of monopolies inevitably fail because even in a free market, tech companies will inevitably re-monopolize.

i think there’s historical evidence for a cycle, that there is wave of reg/dereg that happens naturally, although certainly there’s social and not economic arguments for each side as well.
